Lucy
Jaffe
Birmingham artist Lucy Jaffe uses her
paintings as metaphors for human drama. In the triptych Reflections
on Passion, a stag/tree seems to rush into the composition to steal,
or perhaps embrace, the symbol of love; "nature" leans
toward "domesticity" suggesting one of life's tender moments.
Overall, her acrylic paintings incorporate the artist's concerns
with the conflicts of living in a man-made environment.
