When Mercedes-Benz announced in September 1993, that they would build their automotive plant in Tuscaloosa, it changed forever the economic development landscape of Alabama. After two plant expansions and with more than 22,000 direct and indirect jobs, MBUSI has grown to become Alabama's largest exporter of goods.
