(MARCH 20, 2013) CAPITOL JOURNAL reports on a conference committee today approving a compromise education budget. It provides more money for insurance costs, but no teacher pay raise or bonus. The spending plan went back to the House and Senate. The upper chamber had the General Fund budget on its agenda, after it got committee approval yesterday. The Senate today concurred with a House-amended Carly’s Law bill and sent it to the Governor. It funds a study that would prescribe a marijuana-derived seizure drug. And we’ll be joined by Representative Greg Wren of Montgomery, the chairman of the legislature’s Joint Medicaid Oversight Committee. He discusses the latest effort to expand Medicaid.
