Cleveland Orchestra in Performance: Boulez Conducts Mahler

Pierre Boulez conducts Gustav Mahlera's Adagio from Symphony No. 10 in F-Sharp Major and Des Knaben Wunderhorna (The Youtha's Magic Horn), Songs for Voice and Orchestra, with soloists Magdalena Koaena, mezzo-soprano, and baritone Christian Gerhaher. The concert opens with the romantic and melancholy Adagio and continues with the songs, based on texts from a collection of German folk poetry. Recorded in 2010 at Severance Hall, the home of the Cleveland Orchestra, the performance marked the 150th anniversary of Mahlera's birth, the 100th anniversary of his death and Bouleza 45th year conducting the orchestra.
