The penguins are waddling toward the Esperanza schoolhouse, the building in the middle.

The rock hut built by stranded Swedish explorers. In 1902 their ship named "Antarctic" got stuck and eventually crushed by ice. They spent a winter living in the hut before being rescued.

We enjoyed Argentine hospitality in the Esperanza dining hall.
