Southern View’s first installment was filmed on location at Bailey’s Marengo House in Lowndesboro, where Alabama storyteller Kathryn Tucker Windham tells the story of the “ghosts” that live in the historic home. Dot Dickson, president of the Lowndesboro Landmark Foundation, gives a historical overview of the area and APT’s Dave Finger talks about farming and the stockyard in Lowndes County. Leslie highlights a selection of dishes in the “100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama Before You Die” brochure and hosts Alabama First Lady Patsy Riley in a cooking segment that has the pair preparing hot chicken salad pie.
