Nearly 20 members of the Alabama National Guard are on their way to Afghanistan. The troops will train Afghans to protect the country. The group is the latest members of the Alabama National Guard to be deployed as part of the war on terrorism. The Alabama National Guard has 1,100 soldiers already deployed with a couple of other units in the preparation stage. Major General Mark Bowen is Adjutant General for the Alabama National Guard. He will discuss what the some 13,500 members of the Alabama National Guard are doing here and around the world.
