A Florida State University Professor, Charles Connerly, has written a book looking at a connection between city planning and segregation in Birmingham. Connerly shows how the racial status quo was kept through zoning. Connerly talks about his book, “The Most Segregated City in America: City Planning and Civil Rights in Birmingham, 1920-1980.”
