Interning with Alabama Public Television's Education Department

Department Description:
The Education Division in Birmingham supports the teaching and learning community, inside and outside of the classroom, with a wide range of services including educational programming, APTPLUS and APT Classroom for grades K-12, Ready To Learn, Right from Birth and Going to School parenting series, Adult Learning, online resources, professional development for teachers, community outreach events, and other learning materials and services.

Internship Description:
This internship will provide a solid educational experience to participants by broadening their understanding of public television and the varied educational and outreach opportunities that are offered. The Education Intern will assist the Education Division staff in the delivery of various services to the teaching and learning community.

Responsibilities may include:
• Preparing materials for and assisting with presentations and outreach opportunities
• Planning and facilitating presentations
• Data entry of information from trainings
• Compiling and analyzing data from trainings
• Conducting phone surveys
• Some evening and weekend assignments

Qualifications:
The individual must be in attendance at an accredited community college, college or university and earning academic credit for an internship majoring in Human Development and Family Studies, Early Childhood, Educational Technology, or other related educational areas. The ideal candidate will have good organizational, computer, phone, people, and office skills and be able to work a flexible schedule.
