In conjunction with Career and Tech Month, National Engineers’ Week, and BCT’s production of The Hundred Dresses, Alabama Public Television, Birmingham Children’s Theatre, and MAKEbhm are sponsoring a MAKER CHALLENGE to celebrate innovation, creativity, and problem solving through technology and craftsmanship.
Students identify a problem in everyday life.
Students use their creativity and skills to innovate a solution through technology, craftsmanship, or a combination of the two.
Students present their prototypes and projects for adjudication on February 16.
Projects may be created by an individual or a group.
Projects will be judged in two separate categories and age groups: Middle School Technology, Middle School Craftsmanship, High School Technology, and High School Craftsmanship. Middle School is grades 6-8 and High School is grades 9-12.
Students and their sponsoring teacher will receive a complimentary ticket to The Hundred Dresses performance held on the day of the challenge. Friends and family members of competing students will have the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets to the same performance.
