Fund for Teachers

Alabama teachers will now compete in the National Fund for Teachers program.  

2017 Grant – Application period:
October 1, 2016 - January 31, 2017

Application open online October 1, 2016:
fft.fundforteachers.org

The Fund for Teachers grant program provides teachers the opportunity to design their own professional development and be awarded $5000 to $10,000 in grant money.

Alabama Pre-K through 12th grade teachers, submit an application for a chance to receive up to $5000 as an individual and up to $10,000 as a team of 2 or more teachers.

Do I meet the eligibility requirements?
  • (3) years teaching experience
  • Teach preK-12 grade
  • Spend at least 50% of a full time position in the classroom or classroom-like setting in direct instruction with students
  • Intend to return to the classroom in the consecutive school year

1. Bridging the Gap

A one-minute motion graphic video depicting how educators use Fund for Teachers grants to bridge learning gaps, inspire students and change the world.

2. Briana Morton

Length: 1 Minute

Briana Morton teaches Family & Consumer Sciences at Homewood Middle School. She explains how she and science teacher Molly Knudsen used the Fund for Teachers grant for their Growing Learners gardening program.

3. Amber Moore

Amber Moore teaches 5th Grade at New Market School and Courtney Harper is the art teacher. Amber explains how they used the Fund for Teachers grant to learn about bridges and create a STEAM based Teach Me Bridges unit.

4. LeAnn Cox & Christine Sexton

LeAnn Cox and Christine Sexton teach 5th Grade at Forest Oaks Elementary and along with fellow teachers Mary Ramsey, Ginny Carroll, and Abigail Brock they attended the Orton-Gillingham dyslexia training in Atlanta. LeAnn and Christine explain how their team used the Fund for Teachers grant to help improve reading skills in her students.

5. Pam Berry

Pam Berry is a school librarian at Madison County Elementary. She explains how she and Leslie Lawhorn a 5th grade teacher used the Fund for Teachers grant for professional development by attending the ISTE (International Standards for Technology Education) conference.
