Video Overview
In July of 2009, employees at Alabama Power's James M. Barry Electric Generating Plant gave a guided to EYE Camp participants, The plant is located along the Mobile River in Bucks. The tour begins with an orientation and continues on the roof of the coal-fired steam plant which has a spectacular view of the coal barges and a man-made mountain of coal. The tour moves inside as you go past gigantic electric turbines and into the main control room, the nerve center of the plant. From here every aspect of power generation is monitored and controlled. >
