In 1955, the first signal from Alabama’s fledgling educational television network was broadcast from the summit of Mount Cheaha, Alabama’s highest peak. Thus began the story of the nation’s first statewide educational television system. The Cheaha Legacy acknowledges this first signal, a gift to future generations, and honors those individuals, past and present, who include Alabama Public Television in their estate plan.
