Public Television expands its longtime commitment to coverage of the
Alabama Legislature this month by taking viewers right to the action
to experience the "sights and the sounds" of the process.
In past years, public television's coverage of the final night of the
legislature has generated huge interest from viewers. This reporting
from inside the house and senate chambers relied on the temporary installation
of cameras and microwave equipment. Now, new digital equipment and a
mini-studio at the statehouse will allow APT to offer this service throughout
the annual session.
Alabama Public Television reporters will be able to present
nightly updates/reports on legislative activity from several locations
in the statehouse in or near each chamber and from a small studio where
interviews can be conducted with legislators involved in key activities.
The nightly reports will be incorporated into Alabama Public Television's
regular legislative coverage on For
the Record.
A new program, Capitol
Journal: The Alabama Legislature airing Friday nights
at 8:00pm, will review the week's action in the legislature. This will
include segments taped earlier in the week with additional interviews
and comment.
The new Friday schedule will include time changes for
Alabama @ Work
(now at 8:30pm) and Now with Bill Moyers (now at 9:00pm).
