Education NewsTuesday, June 5, 2007 Alabama High School Students Head to Antarctica
In May, UAB researchers Charles and Maggie Amsler moderated a trip to their Antarctic field station made available to students in participating Alabama high schools throughout the state. The live broadcast is made possible by collaboration among UAB and the University of Alabama System with Alabama Public Television (APT), the State Department of Education, the Supercomputer Authority and the Alabama ACCESS initiative in coordination with The National Science Foundation. The UAB team at Palmer Station, Antarctica, is supported by a grant of the National Science Foundation Office of Polar Programs.
