CHANGES IN ONLINE CONTENT DATABASES
As technology continues to advance, Alabama Public Television’s educational media experts keep pace. Fresh content and new databases are continuously being added to the APTPLUS service, including PBS LearningMedia and Khan Academy. These resources offer Alabama teachers and students quality learning objects for 21st century teaching and learning.
APT’s subscription to the database LEARN360 has expired and cannot be renewed due to severe state budget cuts to APT. Despite diligent efforts, funding sources could not be found. LEARN360 will continue to make the service available until September 30, 2013. Under the terms of the licensing agreement, APT is required to inform APTPLUS subscribers of the following: All users should remove, delete and/or destroy all content downloaded from Learn360 to any device by September 30, 2013.
If schools wish to continue to receive Learn360 content, they may lease the service directly by calling Steve Finch-(Learn360) at 1-877-346-2450 or e-mailing him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As a part of APT’s continuing development of educational resources, we are working closely with the State Department of Education to create new content that will more specifically address Alabama's student and educator needs.
To mitigate any disruption to teachers as they prepare lesson plans for the school year, APT’s education specialists are available to identify comparable learning media in other APTPLUS databases for use in lieu of Learn360 content. For help, contact us at APTPLUS@aptv.org.
