Recommended for Ninth Grade to Twelfth Grade
In this activity, you will work with political cartoons. First, you will find out how to "read a political cartoon." Next, you will go to a political cartoon website to find a cartoon to reserach, analyze and write about. Finding an Alabama connection to the events or ideas in your cartoon will be your last task.
Write a paper about your political cartoon. Be sure to use one or more of these words: symbolism, exaggeration, labeling, analogy, and irony.
Go to WWII: Alabama Remembers and look for an Alabama connection to the event or idea presented in your political cartoon. If you are able to find an Alabama connection, please give the person's name and a brief synopsis of his/her involvement in your paper.
