In this first lesson we are introduced to Mrs. Tew’s 8th grade English class. Mrs. Tew and her class set the stage for focusing on the concepts of setting and mood and how they relate to one another. The poem “Where the Sidewalk Ends” by Shel Silverstein is read aloud to the classroom, and the students are asked to find examples of setting and mood by circling the settings and underlining the moods they see within the poem.
